Major renovation of an office building in the European district of Brussels
The contract for Eaglestone’s K-Nopy project has been awarded to BPC Group. This project involves extensive renovation of an office building located in the Brussels European quarter, at the intersection of Rue de Trèves and Rue de Toulouse. The project extends over 7 upper storeys and 2 subterranean levels, a total area of 11,750 m². Its certifications are BREEAM Outstanding and CO2 Neutral.
The demolition phase will be an important step since, in addition to removing structure on all levels, the last 3 floors of the building as it currently stands are to be completely demolished, to then be rebuilt anew.
One of the building’s core structures, with its flight of stairs and elevator shafts, will also be removed in toto and rebuilt elsewhere, creating an important recalculation in terms of stability.
The works involve:
Incidentally, the project’s name, “K-Nopy”, comes from the developers’ wish to create a leafy garden patio on the top floor of this extremely green building, akin to a “canopy” (as in the highest point of a rainforest, home to the majority of species that live there).
