An important phase of the ZIN project is taking place this week: the site team is currently setting up 3 of the 4 tower cranes that will allow the structural work to begin.
A mobile crane was installed on site this Sunday from 10am until the middle of the night. The first tower crane (GT1), installed in the WTC 1 tower, was installed on Tuesday. The GT3, a luffing boom crane, was installed on Wednesday. On Thursday 22 April, the mobile crane will be moved overnight to start the installation of the GT2 (standard tower crane) in WTC 2. For these installations, the mobile crane reached a height of 152 m!
The fourth crane will be installed on 21, 22 and 23 May and will also be a luffing boom crane.
As a matter of interest, a base made of 40 tons of steel was placed for GT3 alone. The bases for GT1 and GT2 were placed last week on the 22nd floor of the towers.
Large projects require large cranes!
